Living with gaps in your smile because of one or more permanently lost teeth won’t only look unpleasant, but it can cause great damage to your oral health. Once you have lost a tooth, there is no longer a root there to stimulate your jawbone. This will weaken your jaw and the bone will slowly start to deteriorate if left untreated.
Dental implants are a revolutionary tooth replacement option that is the only solution that helps protect and rebuild your jawbone to support a new tooth root. They obtain one of the highest success rates of any other dental therapy and they can last for years with proper care.
How The Process Works
After your consultation at Summit Dentistry with Dr. López, he will create a treatment plan specific to your dental needs and begin at your next appointment. At your following appointment, your journey towards a new, fully restored smile will begin.
Every implant is made with an artificial titanium root that is inserted into the jaw where your missing tooth once stood. New bone then develops around this artificial root throughout your healing period which can make it stronger than even your healthiest teeth.
At your final appointment, Dr. López will complete your treatment with a final tooth restoration. This is the final step of your treatment and your new smile will be ready to shine. It will look and function just like your natural teeth.
Our Restoration Solutions
Traditional dental bridges can only replace 1-2 teeth at a time and require healthy teeth adjacent to it. With a fixed implant bridge, as many as 4 or 5 teeth can be replaced at once! Rather than being supported by healthy teeth, an implant bridge is anchored on either end by a titanium implant root.
Did you know that as few as 4 implant roots can be used to permanently anchor a full-mouth implant denture? That’s right – a denture that never comes out! Unlike traditional dentures, implant-supported dentures only cover the arch of the jaw, freeing up the roof of your mouth so that you can enjoy eating and talking as comfortably as possible.
Our implant crowns are constructed of high-grade porcelain that is known for its resistance to cracking. Even though this material is stronger than natural tooth material, occasionally accidents happen. If you have experienced damage to your implant, we urge you to call our Spokane dental office right away.
Like most dental prostheses, you may be required to replace your dental implants every few years. Your Spokane implant specialist, Dr. López, will examine your implants in order to recommend an adequate maintenance plan.
